2016.12.06
Recently, Ministry of Education and State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs released the project approval result of 2017.
The Discipline Innovative Engineering Plan (“111” Plan). The program of establishing “Discipline Innovative Engineering Base for Study of Cyclic Process and Risk Assessment of New Pollutants”, led by Prof. Sun Hongwen of Nankai University’s College of Environmental Science and Engineering, was approved and becomes the 7th Discipline Innovative Engineering Base at Nankai University.
“111” Plan aims at promoting the construction of world-class universities. Ministry of Education and State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs have implemented the plan since 2006, which keeps with the international academic frontier and takes national key disciplines as the basis. Approximately 100 world-class discipline innovative engineering bases will be established by forming high-level research teams made up of 1,000 talents of the advanced discipline teams from the top 100 universities and research institutes in the world. The construction period of each plan is five years and the annual financial support will no less than 1.8 million yuan.
In 2017, there are altogether fifty universities’ plans entering into the proposal stage, which mainly consist of “985” and “211” universities affiliated to Ministry of Education and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, etc. The approved plans concentrate on the area of science and engineering, agriculture, medicine, while only the bases of Renmin University of China, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Central University of Finance and Economics, and Northeast Normal University are among the approval list.
This year, Ministry of Education and State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs have formulated and releasedImplementation and Administration Measures for Discipline Innovative Engineering Plan of Higher Learning Institutionsbased on 2006 Administration Measures for Discipline Innovative Engineering Bases of Higher Learning Institutions. The new measures emphasis on strengthening management responsibilities and guaranteeing the construction conditions in support of international cooperation in newly established bases in a high-level and qualified manner.
People in charge of Science & Technology Department of Nankai University said that the new base would promote the university’s international cooperation in science and technology based on the goal and tasks of “111” Plan.
